Breasts of Doom

Topic: Discuss your bra experience. What was your first bra like? How long did you wait until you finally got yours? What kind of bra do you prefer now?

I really can't remember when my first bra experience was. I know I got my first training bra when I was around ten years old when I had my first period. I was in the fifth grade, and all the girls were wearing Playtex training bras and talking about getting their first menstruation. I remember thinking how left out I felt when all my friends showed off their new pink or white lacy bra in the bathroom or announced that they had their first period. Wearing a bra or getting a period was your window into womanhood and I was standing outside that window with my flat chest thinking I would never be allowed in. I remember begging my mom for a training bra after all the girls in the fifth and sixth grade had to attend an assembly about our developing bodies. Luckily my mom was sensitive to my needs and one day when I came home two white, cotton Playtex training bras laid on my bed. I was excited and embarrassed at the same time but I wore those training bras with pride feeling like I had achieved something no one else had achieved.

Now at twenty-five I try to wear a bra as little as possible. After nine months of pregnancy and twenty months of breastfeeding I feel free to let my breasts sag and bounce around as much as possible. Once I was flat chested, and couldn't wait to get a bra on, now I am a DD and can't wait to shed the damn thing. So while I am at home I prance around braless and sometimes even topless! I often envy the native women who can let their breasts be free from the straps and cups of bra, feeling the fresh air and sunlight upon their breasts as they work and care for their families.

However, my bra of choice is one by Bali, with underwire. I like my breasts supported and lifted and standing at attention when we go out. There is nothing like perky breasts in a great blouse or dress. I get fitted for my bras too! When ever a department store offers bra fittings I go and get sized. Its nice to have a professional there to help you find and pick out the right bra in the appropriate size. I watched a day time talk show about women and bras and this woman from Warner's said that the majority of women wear the wrong type of bra and the wrong size. So from that show on I have been fitted for my bras.
